Content is King!
Copywriting -- Do you need it?

Recently I had a client tell me "I will just send you a lot of photos for that page, after all a picture is worth a thousand words" true, but first your potential customer has to find that page.  Google and the major search engines do not index photos, they index text.  Many small business have never had to put together any promotional material for their company, other than the occasional print ad.

Small business owners are very good at what they do, these days you have to be, but they are not always able to assemble the promotional information needed to create a great web site, more frequently they simply do not have time.  The down side is, great websites cant be created out of just photos and headings with nothing to go with it.

Over the last few years this has been a big enough issue for some business people, that their site has come to a screeching halt for literally months, while I waited for them to assemble their content.  As often as not it has nothing to do with the ability to create content as it does finding the time to do it, running a business is busy work!

I do not profess to be copywriter, that's a specialized business just like any other, not to mention, I really enjoy crafting web sites but I do not enjoy copywriting when I have done it.  I am totally comfortable and confident in taking your copy and editing it to make it search engine friendly (SEO), or changing the content a bit for marketing purposes, I'm good at that and enjoy doing it, the actual copy writing, not feeling the love so much.

Do you need copywriting services?  If you are finding it next to impossible to get the content and promotional material assembled for your website either because you simply dont have the time or energy, or you feel you lack the skills to do yourself justice, hiring a copywriter might be the way to go.

In order to expedite getting your site up and running, relieve the time pressure issues, or the feeling you have a nightmarish homework assignment, I have gone out and found some solid and inexpensive freelance copywriters. Using this service is not necessary to get your site up and running, but this area can be a stumbling block for a lot of people and I wanted to try and find a way to remove it or make it not such a big ordeal.

Cost: Not as spendy as you might think, for example if you have chosen my  5-page web package, you are basically going to need content for the Home Page, About Us, a Product or Services page or two, and/or a Special Offers or On-Sale page. Copy writing services would run about $150.00 for the majority of sites.  Obviously if  we are creating a larger site for you the cost will be higher, but you would have an estimate in advance for your approval.

So how does it work?
If you decide to use the service I will give you each others contact information to arrange a phone interview at your convenience, plan on about an hour on the phone.  Your copywriter will ask you probing questions about what you do and the way you do it, about the things that set you apart from your completion and about some of the value added  things you bring to the table over your competitor.  They will ask about your products or services and what are the areas of division within those products or services that may require a separate page or that needs to be focused on.  Talk to the copywriter like you would a prospective client!

After that call they will set their creative little minds to work and come up with some clear well written copy describing your business, your products or services and you. Within a week or so (usually less, but there is some creativity involved here so I like to give them a week to be brilliant) they will email you back the material they have created for your approval and to see if there are any items that need to be tweaked, corrected, or shifted around.  When that is complete, I design your site around it, adding my mojo into the mix for the SEO portion along with a few marketing tweaks here and there and we have website!
